Dennis

Dennis is another of the students I met with recently in Matagalpa. He is blind and so dependent on assitive technologies. We spent some time talking about the difficulties and costs associated with providing equal access to technology and information resources for disabled users. As difficult as it is here in the states, mutiply that by several to get some idea of the challenges facing Dennis.

One of the options we are exploring is that of running linux on a usb drive, with Orca and other relevant assistive technologies as an in-expensive and portable system that could be distributed broadly.

It’s been years since I’ve worked with/set up an assistive technology computer, so one area of expertise we could benefit from is just that.
