About the week

Some of the activities being considered for this trip include:

  • learning exchanges on topics such as open source for development, mobile technologies and e-learning,
  • participatory design sessions with stakeholders from the community
  • visits to some local fair trade cooperatives.
  • And much more

This opportunity is being planned in conjunction with Planting Hope, a Vermont based not-for-profit with a long and successful history of work in the Matagalpa area.

Homestays

All participants will be housed with local families, in San Ramon. The homestay experience provides the opportunity to be immersed in the daily life of your family and the community. The rhythms of daily life become more apparent during a homestay and can offer unique moments of perception and reflection that would otherwise be hidden to a “tourist”.

Fluency in spanish is not necessary, but if you are working on learning spanish and want to improve your skills homestays provide ample opportunity to practice.

What to bring with you.
